The Rock'en Ray song, I Saw You, is actually a true story from when I was young. The apartment I lived in had a small room at the back. The outward facing wall was all glass windows which provided excellent light during the day, but total visibility at night. This is where I kept my guitars and gear, so I never bothered to put up any curtains or anything else over the windows. The bare windows gave the room this totally cool acoustic that in turn gave my guitar sound an extra something. I loved it. I liked to practice all day and sometimes all through the night.

Then one night, directly across from my apartment, I saw this young girl in her bedroom dancing. I could barely see her, but I'm sure she could see me. No matter, I was busy playing my guitar and writing songs. However, one weekend I took notice that she was dancing around like a ballerina. Again, she was so far away I couldn't really make out much of anything. As time went on, I did take notice that she was there dancing every Saturday night.

Then it happen one night, on Halloween. I was out getting into trouble as usual. I had just come from the premier release of "Trick or Treat" movie that featured one of my favorite Rock N' Roll bands, Fastway, playing the whole soundtrack. It was a night to remember. In returning home, for some reason I decided to take a short cut through the courtyard.

That's when I saw her, dancing like a ballerina to all her glory. As I got closer and closer that's when I saw her, you guessed it, in her underwear. I thought to myself, what a sight, but as I got closer, I noticed who she was. I kept thinking "You are an angle from the heavens above!"

The ending to the story has a real kick to it. She was my current girlfriend. I had been to her apartment 3 dozen times, but never went into the bedroom. I had no idea that our apartments were back-to-back in the courtyard. To this day I have no idea why she was dancing in her underwear. I tried several times to tell her what I saw, I tried to bring the subject up, but never could. We soon parted but remained friends for years.
